‘SILENCE’는 스튜디오 신유의 독보적인 미감과 철학적 사유로 빚어낸 공간입니다. 동양과 서양, 과거와 현재, 채움과 비움, 자연과 인공, 그리고 말과 침묵처럼 대척점에 있는 여러 가치들을 한 공간에 녹여냈습니다.

과거의 인류는 밤하늘의 별을 보며 시간을 나누었습니다. 오늘날의 우리는 도시의 빛과 높은 건물들로 인해 시간성을 감각하기 어렵습니다. 한국의 전통문화를 바라보는 시선도, 현대를 살아가는 우리의 삶과 닮아있습니다. 오늘의 나를 알기 위해서 우리는 과거로부터 이어져 온 시간을 필요로 합니다. 잊혀진 시간들을 발견하여 우리 고유의 것을 현대에 맞게 번역하는 일. 그것은 내가 서 있는 곳의 풍경 뿐 아니라, 연결된 과거의 또 다른 미래를 상상하는 일입니다. 스튜디오 신유의 ‘SILENCE’는 세계 문화가 급격하게 연결되기 시작할 때, 자주적 근대화를 이뤄낸 한국의 문화로 들어가는 과정입니다. 다른 세계와의 충돌로 인해서 빚어지는 이 공간에서는, 전통적인 모습만 존재하는 것이 아니라 서양 문화의 영향으로 서로 다른 문화가 교류하고 화합하는 장면이 연출됩니다.

SILENCE

SILENCE is a space shaped by STUDIO SHINYOO’s singular aesthetic and philosophical depth. It weaves together oppositional values—East and West, past and present, presence and absence, nature and artificiality, speech and silence—into one contemplative landscape.

In the past, humanity read time through the stars. Today, urban lights and towering buildings obscure our sense of temporality. Our relationship with Korean traditional culture feels much the same—distant, buried beneath the weight of the contemporary. To know who we are today, we must walk through the time we’ve inherited. To uncover what has been forgotten and translate it anew—not simply to recreate the past, but to imagine another future connected to it. SILENCE is not a return, but an entrance—an entrance into a Korean cultural identity that could have emerged through autonomous modernization, at the very moment when global cultures began to collide and interlace. Here, tradition does not stand in isolation. Rather, it is entangled with the influence of the West—offering scenes of fusion, tension, and quiet harmony. This space does not demand interpretation. It invites you to listen—to what is said, and more importantly, to what is not.
