LIN COLUMN

설치물은 4층으로 설계되었으며, 각 층에는 작은 창을 통해 식재가 심어져있습니다. 이것은 식물의 생장을 비유합니다. 기둥의 가장 하부인 1층에는 씨앗에서 이제 막 돋아나는 떡잎 칸과, 시간이 지남에 따라 더욱 두터워지며 나무의 가장 큰 기초가 되는 뿌리기둥을 표현한 칸이 가로로 펼쳐집니다. 2층에는 떡잎 시절을 지나 세로로, 또는 가로로 조금씩 확장되는 식물의 성장기가 표현되어 있습니다. 3층은 식물의 청년기로서 공간의 전방위로 가장 크게 번창하며 생장점에 다다르게 되어 커다란 나무의 형상을 갖추게 되는 시기입니다. 마지막 4층에서는 성장의 황금기를 지나 전체적인 틀을 유지하며 완연히 대지에 자리잡은 생명의 견고함을 보여줍니다. 이번 포르쉐 스코프 서울 행사를 위해 설계된 이 기둥 구조물은 포르쉐가 이어온 헤리티지와, 가파른 산업화 속에 급변해 온 서울의 모습을 동시에 표현합니다. 식물이 가득했던 지구에 인류가 쌓아올린 철의 문명이, 동서양 문화에서 보편적으로 발견되는 기둥-보 구조로 기존 건물의 기둥을 감싸고 있습니다. 인공물로 넓게 뒤덮히고 있는 이 곳 서울에서도, 인간의 문화와 기존의 자연 생명의 공존을 도모하려는 노력이 건물 틈 사이 피어나는 잡초의 생명력처럼 여전히 숨쉬고 있습니다. 동양 문화와 서양 문화, 그리고 인공물과 자연처럼 서로 대비되는 존재들이 조화롭게 어우러지는 형상이 오늘날 서울의 기둥입니다.

LIN COLUMN

The installation is designed on four floors, and each floor has plants planted through small windows. This is an analogy to the growth of a tree. On the first floor, which is the lowest part of the pillar, the space of the cotyledons that are just sprouting from the seed and the space of the root that will become thicker over time and become the largest base of the tree are spread out horizontally. The second floor depicts the growth phase of the tree, which gradually expands vertically and horizontally after the cotyledon stage. The third floor is the youth stage of the tree, when it prospers the most in all directions of space and reaches its maximum growth point. The final fourth floor shows the overall maintenance after the golden age of growth, clearly showing the solidity of life established on the land. This pillar structure, designed for the Porsche Scope Seoul event, simultaneously expresses the heritage of Porsche and the rapidly changing appearance of Seoul amidst rapid industrialization. The iron civilization that humans built on this planet, which used to be full of plants, surrounds the pillars of existing buildings with the beam to column structure commonly found in Eastern and Western cultures. Even here in Seoul, which is widely covered with artificial structures, efforts to promote the coexistence of human culture and existing natural life are still blooming between the cracks of buildings. This structure, where the contrasting East and West, artificial and nature harmoniously blend together, is the pillar of today's Seoul.
