하늘, 땅, 물 그리고 불을 상징하는 건곤감리는 각국을 대표하는 국기들 가운데 한국의 태극기만이 지닌 독특한 구도와 형태이다. 동양도 아니고 아시아도 아니고 중국도 아니고 일본도 아닌 한국적인 정체성은 작가의 내면에 고요히 침잠해있다. 오늘날 세계라는 정보는 눈이 부실만큼 시끄럽게 밝다. 고통과 행복은 같은 무게추를 공유한다. 다양한 세계 정체성을 수집하는 작가의 한국인으로서의 정체성은 건곤감리 파빌리온을 통해 움직이고 연결되며 확장된다.

Geon-Gon-Gam-Ri Pavilion

The Geon, Gon, Gam, and Ri trigrams, symbolizing heaven, earth, water, and fire respectively, are unique to Korea's Taegukgi among national flags. Neither Oriental, Asian, Chinese, nor Japanese, the distinctly Korean identity quietly resides within the artist's inner self. In today's world, information is dazzlingly bright and noisy. Pain and happiness share the same balance scale. The artist's identity as a Korean, amidst collecting various global identities, moves, connects, and expands through the Geon-Gon-Gam-Ri Pavilion.
