HALF OF / 2022 / Trophy
HALF OF : Seoul Living Design Fair 2021 Award Trophy
HALF OF : Seoul Living Design Fair 2021 Award Trophy
Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena, who won the Pritzker Prize in 2015, is widely known for his ‘Half of a good house’ project.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This project built only half of a house. Then a residence who lives in this house is the one who will build the another half of the house. It makes the price cheaper but also gives a motivation and an opportunity to the residence can make better place to live. It is a remarkable idea that solves the problem of residential welfare while recognizing the relationship between space and user.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Space is finally completed when the user enters. When we were asked to design a trophy for Seoul Living Design Fair Awards, this was the very first sentence we wanted to start with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The trophy is designed as a half of space. The rest is for the people who use it. This is the relationship where exhibited objects and the entering people are overlap finishing the exhibition finally.
